Hi, just had a scare, as my Aqara home security went off due to a less than 4 month old Aqara smoke detector reported smoke in my livingroom. Since I’m currently away on business, I called my good friend and neighbour who rushed home from work to check it out finding absolutely NOTHING wrong.
So my question is if others in here have had same experience as me (hope I’m just unlucky), but if others have had the same we need an update otherwise the products is not helping anything.
I’ve seen a few people mention false alarms with the Aqara smoke detector, so you’re definitely not alone. The good news is that in many cases it’s linked to things like steam, humidity, or even aerosols rather than a real fault. A quick self-test and checking the battery often helps, and Aqara support has been responsive if a unit turns out to be defective.
I’d see it as the detector being “extra sensitive,” which is better than the opposite. Still, it’s worth keeping an eye on it and maybe contacting Aqara if it happens again. Most users report stable performance once the environment is ideal, so hopefully this was just a one-off and your system will keep you safe without further scares.
It’s placed at my new house we have not really moved into yet, and the humidity is similar to outside so around 60% and temp is like 25-27C
The strange thing is the log shows something for like 5 min going up and down and to 0 and then back up a little and then nothing more…
If you’re currently renovating or painting, I strongly recommend removing the smoke detectors and putting them away in a safe, clean place. Once you’re finished painting and renovating, wait about another week and then install them. Believe me, I speak from experience
You should also keep the minimum distance to the walls so that the sensor can “breathe” freely
Thx but everything is done and has been done since New Years so that’s not the reason. There is plenty of distance as it almost in the middle of the ceiling
I’ve had my fair share of false alarms too — and of course, they love to strike when I’m on a business trip, in the middle of the night. My wife is… let’s just say… not the biggest fan of Aqara smoke detectors anymore
I’ve actually removed a few of them. Turns out they don’t like outdoor air (too many particles) — and definitely hate bathroom steam.
One trick that sometimes helped: blowing the sensor clean. But to be honest, that’s not exactly a long-term fix.
So, no solution here either — just solidarity.
We’re in this smoky mystery together.
