Dear Aqara Team,
I would like to suggest a new setting for the Aqara Smart Video Doorbell G4 in the Aqara Home Android app.
I use the G4 doorbell on battery power, with a microSD card in the chime repeater, and I also subscribe to Aqara cloud video storage.
At the moment, the app offers settings such as “Duration of Stay” and “Detection Time Interval”, but these settings do not appear to control the actual length of each recorded event video.
They seem to control when an event is triggered, or how long the camera waits before triggering another event.
It would be very useful if Aqara could add a separate setting called:
Recording duration
With selectable options such as:
10 seconds / 20 seconds / 30 seconds / 40 seconds
This would allow users to choose how long each event video should be recorded, without having to enable 24/7 recording.
This would be especially useful for users who run the G4 on batteries and do not want continuous recording, but still want a full visitor event to be captured in one video clip.
I fully understand that longer recordings may use more battery power and cloud storage.
Therefore, Aqara could show a battery warning when selecting longer recording durations.
@oza11 Totally get the request—“Duration of Stay” and “Detection Time Interval” are more about when an event triggers (and how often), not how long each clip is.
On the current G4/G410 behavior, Aqara cloud event recording is trigger-based and saves a short event clip (commonly 12 seconds) when a detection condition is met, rather than letting you set a per-event recording length slider. For example, once a detection is enabled and triggered, it will save a 12s video to the Aqara cloud, and 24/7 cloud recording isn’t supported on G4/G410.

If you want to push this feature idea forward (which makes a lot of sense for battery users + SD card), the best path is to submit it as a formal feature request through official support so it lands with the right team:

Tip: include your proposed UI path (Detection Settings → Event Recording → Recording Duration), your battery/SD/cloud setup details, and why “single complete visitor clip” matters—those specifics really help when product teams evaluate feasibility.
