Feature request: audible feedback on U200 outdoor unit for lock/unlock

Hello Aqara team,

I am a happy user of the Aqara U200 smart lock and I really appreciate its design and integration options. However, I would like to suggest a feature that would make the experience much better for users in noisy outdoor environments.

Currently, the outdoor keypad unit only produces sound when there is a tamper alarm. The lock/unlock confirmation sound is only played by the indoor unit, which is not audible from the outside.

In real-world situations, this means that when unlocking the door from the street, I cannot clearly tell when the lock has finished the unlocking process, especially in noisy environments (traffic, street noise, etc.). As a result, I have to wait extra seconds or risk pushing the door too early, which is not ideal.

Feature request:
Please allow the outdoor keypad unit to also produce a short audible signal (beep or chime) when the lock/unlock action has been successfully completed. Ideally, this should be configurable in the settings (enabled/disabled, volume level).

This would greatly improve usability and user confidence, without compromising security, since the sound would only indicate that the operation has been completed.

Thank you for considering this improvement. I believe many users would benefit from it.

well a workaround could be to add an automatiomation where you phone get a notification e.g. 3 sec after the door unlocks, then you know the door has unlocked?

I already have it set up that way. But it’s not always a good solution for everyone in the house. Some people don’t always have their cell phones with them. Sometimes the phone is on silent. And sometimes the noise makes it impossible to hear the phone.

Thank you for your feedback. This seems like a suggestion that could genuinely improve the user experience. However, due to hardware design constraints of the U200 keypad -specifically, to minimize power consumption (as the chip used has relatively high power demands) the keypad does not maintain an active connection with the lock when not explicitly awakened. As a result, the keypad isn’t notified when the lock has been unlocked.

We will take this functionality into consideration for the next generation of retrofit smart locks. Thank you again for your valuable input.
