Feature Suggestions to Improve the Aqara Lighting Experience

I wanted to share a few suggestions that I think could really improve the experience for users managing multiple Aqara lights, especially when creating and customizing effects.

  1. Copy Custom Effects Between Devices
Currently, if we have several Aqara lights (like six bulbs in a living room), we have to recreate the same custom effect manually for each one. It would be great to have a way to copy a custom effect from one device to another; either through the app or via a share/import feature.
  2. Manual Color Input Options
It would be very helpful to allow users to manually enter a color value when customizing effects. Ideally, this would support multiple formats such as:
  • Human-readable (e.g., “red”, “blue”)
  • Hex code (e.g., #FF5733)
  • RBG format
  1. Apply Effects to Groups
It would be amazing to be able to apply a single effect to a group of lights with one action. For example, selecting a group and applying a “Sunset” effect without configuring each light individually.

These features would save a lot of time and provide a more seamless smart lighting experience; especially for users with larger setups.

Thanks for considering these ideas, and I’d love to hear what others think or if there are any workarounds!

@Marc3k Thank you so much for sharing your thoughtful suggestions to enhance the Aqara lighting experience! Your ideas are incredibly valuable, especially for users managing multiple lights and looking to streamline their smart home setup. Let’s dive into your suggestions:

  1. Copy Custom Effects Between Devices: This is a fantastic idea! Having a feature to replicate custom effects across multiple devices would significantly reduce the time spent in configuration. While the current system does not support this functionality, it’s a suggestion that could definitely enhance user experience.

  2. Manual Color Input Options: Allowing users to input colors manually using various formats like human-readable names, hex codes, and RGB values would indeed offer greater flexibility and precision in customization. This feature would cater to a wide range of users, from casual users to tech enthusiasts who love to tweak every detail.

  3. Apply Effects to Groups: Your suggestion to apply effects to a group of lights with a single action aligns well with existing grouping capabilities. Currently, Aqara supports creating device groups, such as light groups, which could potentially be extended to include applying effects. This would simplify the process and be a time-saver for many users.

Your input highlights areas for potential improvements and innovation. We encourage other community members to share their thoughts or any existing workarounds they’ve discovered. Thank you again for contributing such insightful ideas—it’s discussions like these that drive the evolution of smart home technology!

Hi Marc, I really like your idea! If we can make it happen later on, it’ll make things a lot more efficient and way easier to set up. We’ll take a good look at it!

Hi Marc,

I’m the Product Manager for Aqara Lights, and I’d like to thank you for using Aqara Lights and for your valuable suggestions!

Over the past two years,we’ve successively launched the LED Strip T1 and Ceiling Light T1M,and we’re delighted that they’ve been well-received by Aqara users. This year,we’ve introduced the LED Bulb.Since bulbs are often used in multiples(as you mentioned, with six bulbs in a living room),we’ve received feedback from other users over the past two months, similar to your suggestions, hoping to add more features within light groups or introduce a sharing function between devices, allow manual color input, and so on,to reduce repetitive configuration tasks and maintain consistency between devices.

Now,we’ve already raised this demand with our internal development team, and we believe that we’ll gradually support these features in the near future.

Thank you once again for your suggestions!

Thanks!

Thanks for the RGB color manual picker. Can’t wait for it to be added. I like to have the bulb set to the color of the sports team I’m watching. Do you know when this will be added to the app?

Please add the tuneable white option to the accent light so we can see it to match the main light on the T1M

I was wondering if there was any update to when the RGB color manual picker would be available.
