Fibaro Motion Sensor Firmware Downgrade Success Story

I recently encountered an issue with my Fibaro Motion Sensors (FGMS-001) running on version 3.3. After purchasing 10 units, I tried adding them to three different Athom Homeys, but they were all recognized as generic devices. This was frustrating because I had several version 3.2 sensors that worked perfectly without any issues. I even reported the problem on Homey’s GitHub, but I wanted to explore a potential solution on my own.

After some research, I discovered that downgrading the firmware of the Fibaro Motion Sensors from version 3.3 to 3.2 might resolve the compatibility issue. I decided to give it a try using my Home Center Lite as an intermediary. Here’s how I did it:

  1. Backup Your Current Setup: Before making any changes, I backed up my current Homey setup to ensure I could restore it if something went wrong.
  2. Access the Home Center Lite: I connected my Home Center Lite to my network and accessed its web interface.
  3. Firmware Downgrade Process: Using the Home Center Lite, I successfully downgraded the firmware of each Fibaro Motion Sensor from 3.3 to 3.2. This process took some time, but it was straightforward.
  4. Re-adding Sensors to Homey: After the downgrade, I tried adding the sensors to my Homey devices again. This time, they were recognized correctly and worked as expected!

It’s a relief to have my Fibaro Motion Sensors functioning properly again. This experience taught me the importance of checking firmware versions and exploring downgrade options when compatibility issues arise. If anyone else is facing similar problems, I highly recommend trying this approach before considering more drastic solutions.
