FlipFlic Smart Blinds Integration Progress and Community Collaboration

I’ve been closely following the development of the FlipFlic smart blinds, previously known as Comfee/Jalouiser, and I’m thrilled to share some exciting updates with the community! Over the past year, the team has made significant strides in perfecting their retro-fit tilt mechanism, securing funding through angel investors, and now they’re diving into integration with SmartThings for seamless home automation.

The FlipFlic is designed to be a cost-effective and easy-to-install alternative to traditional motorized blinds, offering smart daylighting, energy savings, and enhanced security. It connects via BLE and ZigBee, and they’re currently working on integrating it with SmartThings, which would be a fantastic addition to any smart home setup.

Here’s a quick overview of their integration plan:

  • Light Bulb Role: The device will respond to ON/OFF commands to control the blinds’ position.
  • Light Switch Role: Ambient light sensors will automatically adjust the blinds based on light intensity.
  • Additional Sensors: They aim to incorporate data from light sensors, temperature, battery status, and slat position to optimize functionality within SmartThings.

The team is actively seeking community members to collaborate on this project, offering flexible options for both in-house and remote contributions. If you’re interested in getting involved, they’re open to discussing various possibilities to make this integration a success for everyone.

For more details, you can reach out to @kseniavinogrado or contact them directly at ksenia@flipflic.com. They’re based in San Francisco, USA, and are considering both in-person and remote collaborations.

This is a fantastic opportunity to contribute to an innovative project and enhance our SmartThings ecosystem. Let’s make this integration happen! :rocket:
