I’m thrilled to share my successful experience setting up the Foscam FI8910W camera with VeraLite!
After some research and trial, I managed to get everything working smoothly. Here’s a quick rundown of my setup and some tips that might help others:
-
Hardware Setup: I connected the camera to my LAN via Ethernet and set up a static IP with port forwarding on my router. Using canyouseeme.org, I verified the port was accessible.
-
VeraLite Integration: The camera was automatically recognized as a VistaCam SD. Initially, I faced issues with panning and tilting, but updating the firmware and installing the Foscam 2.6 plugin in Vera resolved the problem. Now, I can control the camera seamlessly from Vera, the Foscam app, and even through the manufacturer’s DDNS page!
-
Night Vision: I’m impressed with the night vision capabilities. The camera provides clear images even in pitch-black conditions, which is a huge plus for security monitoring.
-
Tips for Others: If you’re setting this up, ensure your router’s port forwarding is correctly configured. Also, keep an eye on Vera’s generated passwords—they might override your default settings!
I highly recommend this camera for its reliability and compatibility with Vera systems. If you have any questions or need help, feel free to reach out! ![]()
