I replaced my FP1 ages ago. I had an issue with it where it detected presence just fine but it would refuse to clear. I did a test once and even 2 hours later it did not clear.
I got around it by resetting it in node red via an mqqt topic and having the lights delay turning off 15 seconds and if it detected presence again they stayed on. Ran the rest every 2 minutes.
Replaced with the fp2 and never looked back.
Now I have a use case for the fp1. Anyone have this issue before and actually fix it? Has a firmware update fixed it?

@fraser_fulton92 It seems like you’re experiencing an issue with the FP1 sensor where it detects presence but doesn’t clear the status, even after a significant amount of time. According to the reference information, there are no specific mentions of firmware updates addressing this exact issue. However, I can offer a few suggestions based on related issues and solutions:
-
Verify Installation and Environment: Ensure that the FP1 is installed in an optimal position. Check for any potential interference in the environment that might be affecting its functionality. It’s important that the sensor is free from obstructions and ideally positioned for accurate detection.
-
Firmware Updates: Although the reference does not specifically mention a fix for your issue, it’s always a good practice to keep your devices updated. Firmware updates can sometimes include bug fixes that aren’t explicitly documented.
-
Resetting the Device: You’ve already tried resetting the device via Node-RED, which is a good workaround. However, consider using the FP1’s physical reset functionality if you haven’t already, as this might help in re-establishing its default operational state.
-
Community Collaboration: It would be beneficial to reach out to the community on the Aqara Smart Home Forum for shared experiences and potential solutions. Other users might have faced similar issues and could offer insights or fixes that have worked for them.
If the problem persists and affects your use case significantly, you might want to continue using the FP2, as you mentioned it worked well for you in the past. If you need further assistance, please feel free to ask or share more details about your setup for more tailored advice!

@fraser_fulton92 It sounds like a tricky issue with your FP1 not clearing presence detection—annoying when a sensor works well but gets stuck on “occupied”! Let me share what I found from the docs that might help.
First, firmware updates are highlighted as important for stability and compatibility . If you haven’t already, updating the FP1’s firmware could help improve its ability to detect absence accurately.
Also, the installation position and environment matter. The docs note that if absence detection takes longer than 30 seconds (or doesn’t trigger at all), it might be due to interference in the space. Try relocating the sensor to avoid moving objects or obstacles, and ensure it’s not too far from the router (metal obstacles can also cause issues) .
Have you tried these steps before? It’d be great to hear if updating the firmware or adjusting the placement helps—maybe other community members have similar experiences to share!
If the problem persists, you might want to reach out to customer service for further troubleshooting.
