FP1E Presence Sensor Stops Detecting Me at Bathroom Sink

Title: FP1E Presence Sensor Stops Detecting Me When Standing at Bathroom Sink

Hi everyone,

I’ve got an Aqara FP1E presence sensor installed in my bathroom, connected to Home Assistant through Zigbee2MQTT.

It’s generally working well, but I’ve noticed a strange issue recently.

When I’m standing directly in front of the bathroom mirror shaving, the lights sometimes switch off because my presence is no longer being detected.

However, as soon as I take a step backwards from the sink, the sensor detects me again and the lights come back on.

The sensor has excellent Zigbee signal strength (LQI 160), so I don’t think it’s a connectivity issue.

I’m wondering whether this could be caused by:

  • The positioning or detection angle of the FP1E.
  • Reflections from the mirror or bathroom fittings.
  • The sensor struggling to detect someone standing relatively still.
  • A sensitivity or configuration setting that needs adjusting.

Has anyone experienced something similar with the FP1E?

I’d be particularly interested to hear whether changing its position or adjusting the sensitivity has helped.

Thanks in advance!
