FP2 Home assistant

Hi everyone,

I’ve been using the Aqara FP2 with Home Assistant for several months now, mainly for lighting and HVAC automations. Overall, I’m very satisfied with its performance, but I’ve noticed an issue: sometimes the sensor seems to pick up “presence” from something that isn’t a person.

For example, if there’s an object moving slightly (like a curtain, fan, or even shadows), the FP2 occasionally detects it as a person in one of my zones. This can lead to lights turning on when no one is actually there.

I’m wondering:

  • Is there a way to adjust the detection sensitivity in the Aqara app to reduce these false triggers?
  • Has anyone found an optimal placement or angle that helps the FP2 better ignore static or irrelevant objects?
  • Do you combine it with another motion/occupancy sensor for better reliability?

Any tips or best practices would be very helpful.

Thanks!

Hey there,

yes, you can configure the sensitivity by the app.
Go to the sensor properties, detection settings, detection sensitivity. There you can select between low, middle, high.

cheers

I had to spend a lot of time studying where and when it was seeing its ghosts. Between positioning, cleaning up and setting interference zones I got it reasonably well behaved.

I too see ghosts a lot with my FP2s. Tweaking sensitivity helps, as well as placement. They are still there, but not as much.
