Has anyone tried celling mounting the FP300 near a corner with the aim of covering the entire room? I sadly can’t find a way to do this effectively given the design of the sensor. In essence given the short gap between the sensor and mount it doesn’t seem possible to achieve the right angle. I would estimate it can only sense presence within about 3 meters of the sensor position, nowhere near the maximum distance of 6m.
Am I missing a trick somehow? The only alternative I can see is to wall mount instead, which I really don’t want to do.
This picture from the Aqara site actually demonstrates the problem. You can see that the sensor CANNOT be angled sufficiently to reach 6m detection range.
I agree the mount angles don’t give a ton of flexibility. Have you looked at corner mounts? I’ve seen a few on etsy. This wouldn’t be on the ceiling, but you could mount it high with a better angle.
A corner mount stuck on the ceiling will still give the base a 45 degree angle. Just make sure the adhesion is strong enough since the mount will only have 50% contact with the ceiling compared to a corner.
