FP300 motion false positive

Hi all,

I’m running into a persistent issue with one of my FP300 sensors (Zigbee mode) and hoping someone here has seen this before or can point me in the right direction.

Issue 1: Constant false motion detections
The “Infrared Motion Detected” status is triggering every few seconds, continuously, even when:

  • No one is in the room
  • All electronic devices nearby (screens, lights, etc.) are switched off
  • The sensor was placed on a completely empty, closed shelf as a test

I have another FP300 and a Frient Motion Sensor Pro in the same environment, and neither of them is triggering at all under the same conditions. So this seems isolated to this one specific FP300 unit.

Issue 2: Presence detection is unreliable
Separately, the actual “Presence/No Presence” status on this same unit sometimes doesn’t react at all when someone is clearly present, and other times reacts with a significant delay.

What I’ve already tried:

  • Re-ran AI Spatial Background Learning with the room empty
  • Lowered sensitivity
  • Narrowed the detection range
  • Checked/updated firmware
  • Ruled out obvious interference sources (no screens, lights, curtains, AC, etc. in view)

None of this has made a difference — the false motion triggers keep happening every few seconds regardless.

Given that a second FP300 and a different brand’s PIR sensor in the exact same location/conditions show no issues at all, I’m starting to suspect this specific unit might be defective (bad PIR element or otherwise faulty hardware/firmware).

Has anyone experienced this exact combination of symptoms (constant false motion + unreliable presence) on a single unit while other units/sensors nearby behave normally? Any troubleshooting steps I might be missing before going the RMA route?

Thanks in advance!

I had mine seeing people through walls. Might want to check that.

Hi there and welcome to the forum.i recommend you contact Aqara support as they can check if there is some issue into the lates firmware as you mention the other sensor from other manufacture you have works.you should also mention that to aqara support

Hello, my assumption is that another sensor cannot periodically request room control, thereby disturbing the FP300?
