FP300 - my first impressions

Hi folks, so finally got my hands on the FP300 and I’m really super satisfied!!!
I always wanted to place a mmWave sensor in my bathroom to get better detection on presence by using the shower or toilet!

My bathroom is L shaped so I used two motion sensors before to get all movement detected… but wasn’t full satisfied for me!

But the FP300 changed it! I mounted the FP300 in the corner, which is placed in the middle ( there’s no outlet- so FP2 wasn’t possible before) of the L shape. And it detects all necessary area in a 240 degrees angle round about ! Perfect

Plus I can set my automations during night by the lux meter when I don’t want or need full lighting.

Plus I get the necessary data of humidity and get notifications to aerate my bathroom when humidity is too much

Plus I can set my thermostat by getting also the temperature measured by the FP300

So my first impression are pretty positive!
Just hope the resale price will be not to high like 8736,19€ :joy::joy::joy:

I definitely will buy more when finally released

My first and probably last suggestion is to make an affordable price or a great set price for the FP300! Otherwise my wallet will explode :money_with_wings::money_with_wings::money_with_wings:

Sounds nice. I also mainly wanted to use one in my bathroom, mostly because simple motion sensors can’t see if there’s anyone in the shower, or sitting on the toilet. I had to use a set of motion and contact sensors. I assume it has no zone detection. Does the illumination and other sensors update only on motion like in Aqara FP1, or does it update in real time as well?

Hi @DEChrisE
Thanks for sharing your first impressions and installation experience with us, I haven’t received it yet but I’m ready to buy some as soon as they go on sale.

@erpatr3
It has no detection zones like FP2

Thanks @Raman.V I´m totally sure you will love the FP300 too. There are so many new opportunities now - the 4 in 1 sensors and there´s no wire needed to plug in makes it so great - and I never expected the sensor will be so small

I have the FP2 in my bathroom. It detects me in the shower with curtain closed. My bedroom is on the otherwise of the wall. In the morning when I get out of bed and walk around the end to go close the window, the bathroom lights turn on. Took me a few days to figure out that it was detecting me on the otherwise of the wall - lol

I absolutely can’t wait to get my hands on the FP300… I need 6 of them!
Checking everyday now for availability.

Hi @phamquyen0201 the 8736,19 was just an imaginary number which was chosen here by Aqara shop by buying the FP300 in combination with the trial code . So it will not be the real retailer price

@thelane it’s definitely worth to wait! I hope the official start will be soon… Need also some more of these great devuces

Love the setup, did you keep all the default detection settings or have to make any adjustments? Once presence is detected how long do the lights remain on? Automations are so specific and often the settings are so important.

I’m noticing the detection often is instant but there are occasions where there is a 5+ second delay. The FP300 does not seem to cool off for 2 1/2 minutes in-between detections and this is an issue or can be I guess. Maybe I’m just used to the P2 sensors, they have been great.

I’m going to keep playing around with mounting locations, settings and rooms sizes and see if I can come to a few conclusions. I hope just because of the battery power we don’t lose fine tuning and quick responses from the device

Hi @srl77411 of course I did some little adjustments but must say , the FP300 really works great out of the box!
I prefer zigbee Mode of course to have more opportunities !
Did set the presence detection to high, put only mmWave on ( no need there for the PIR ) and did at the end the spatial AI
That´s all
I control two kinds of spots areas … dump lights connected to a T1 relay from Aqara and the spots in the shower are Zigbee 12V GU5.3 bulbs connected to a Hue hub and integrated into the Aqara app by Matter

Good to hear all that, you just hit on something I never thought about. Turning off the mmWave. What a good idea I don’t always need that in certain circumstances.

I was considering resetting everything and switching back over the Thread to see how it performed and comparing the two. I’m not impressed with the timeout period or what ever it’s called where presence is detected and it does not cool off for two and a half minutes. I would like 10 seconds or an option to adjust that from 10 seconds to several minutes etc.

Example: walk in a room the light goes on, if no presence in 10 seconds the light goes off.

In that example 10 seconds is probably not ideal and a battery drain but I am only giving an example.

Anyway the FP300 has been working great minus a few software related options
