FP400 Person Count Not Available in Home Assistant via Aqara Hub M3

Hi everyone,

I have successfully connected my Aqara FP400 to Home Assistant through my Aqara Hub M3, with the FP400 connected to the M3 via Zigbee.

Most of the sensor data is available in Home Assistant and the device is working correctly. However, Home Assistant does not seem to receive the number of people currently detected in the room / person count.

The Aqara Home app can provide more detailed presence information, but I cannot find an entity or attribute in Home Assistant that represents the current number of detected people.

Is there currently a way to expose the FP400’s person count / occupancy count to Home Assistant through the M3?

If not, is this a limitation of the M3 integration, Zigbee implementation, or the current FP400 firmware? Is there any plan to expose this value in the future?

I would ideally like to use the person count in Home Assistant automations, for example:

  • 0 people → turn lights off
  • 1 person → normal lighting
  • 2+ people → different automation behaviour

Any guidance would be appreciated. Thanks!

Hallo @direnc_celik
That’s a special feature exclusive to the Aqara Home App.
In Home Assistant, you can find zones exposed but not person count.

However if you want create
0 people → turn lights off
1 person → normal lighting
2+ people → different automation behaviour

You can create a specific automation or scene in the Aqara Home App and via Matter to Home Assistant. That’s all.

You can use Signal Sync to pass the counts over to HA as Occupancy Sensors.

  • Go to Profile > Connect to Ecosystems > Matter > Scene and Signal sync > Signal Management.
  • Hit + to add a Signal
  • Select Add
  • Select your FP400
  • Select Person Count Equals
  • Select 0
  • Confirm and Save. You probably want to use a name that reflects what this is, like “Living Room People = 0”
  • Repeat for 1 person and 2+ (by using Current Count is greater than or equal to).

Now that you have the three signals, add them in Signal Sync. This exposes each of them in HA, and you can use them in automations, etc.
