From Beginner to Expert: Mastering Aqara Scene Automations

Hey everyone! Just wanted to share my journey from total noob to feeling like a scene automation wizard with my Aqara setup.

When I first got into smart home stuff, I mostly just used manual triggers in the app — super basic. But then I started playing around with scenes, and wow… totally changed how everything flows at home.

Best beginner tip? Start small. I made a “Good Night” scene that turns off lights, locks the door, and drops the thermostat a few degrees. Now it runs automatically when I put my phone on the charger after 11 PM.

Then I got fancy — using motion sensors in the hallway that only trigger night lights between 11 PM and 6 AM, combined with brightness detection so it skips activation in summer mornings. Super smooth!

Also, did anyone know you can stack conditions using AND/OR logic in the Aqara Home app? Took me a while to realize you can make pretty complex setups without diving into Home Assistant.

Anyone else got cool scene combos to share? Or automation ideas you’ve tried that actually make life easier? Still learning and always down to swap setups!

Let’s crowdsource some automation magic.

Starting small with a “Good Night” scene is a smart approach, and your advanced setup with motion sensors and brightness detection sounds incredibly smooth and well-thought-out.

The ability to stack conditions with AND/OR logic in the Aqara Home app is indeed a powerful feature, allowing for complex and personalized automation without needing external platforms like Home Assistant. It’s great that you’ve discovered this flexibility, and I’m sure it will inspire others to explore more creative setups.
