After being part of the Aqara U600 beta test, it is awesome to finally have a brand-new commercial retail unit land on my doorstep this week. Going from testing pre-release hardware to opening the final production packaging feels like a real full-circle moment.
Unboxing & First Look Highlights:
-
Retail Packaging & Ecosystem Support:
The outer box sleeve features a clean look at the slim dual-handle lock design right on the front. Down at the bottom, the compatibility badges confirm broad smart home support out of the box, including Matter, Built on Thread, Apple Home, Home Assistant, Samsung SmartThings, Amazon Alexa, and Google Home. -
Installer-Friendly Layout: Sliding off the outer sleeve and opening the inner cardboard box reveals a full-scale paper measurement template sitting right on top. It includes a built-in millimeter ruler along the edge and clear spacing diagrams (covering standard 72mm, 85mm, and 92mm measurements) to make checking door dimensions effortless, neatly packed alongside the Smart Lock U600 user manual.
-
Hardware & Matte-Black Finish: Pulling both panels out of the box, the slim matte-black finish and ergonomic lever handles look sharp and understated. The exterior panel pairs physical, tactile keypad buttons (
1–0,<, and a dedicated lock button) with a silver-rimmed circular reader at the end, while the interior unit keeps a clean, minimalist profile.
Time to take off the protective transport straps and get this retail unit installed. Who else is picking up the U600 or planning to pair it with their Apple Home or Home Assistant Thread network?
