Hey ,
Share my (ongoing) rollercoaster ride diving deep into the Aqara Developer Toolkit. I’m definitely not a dev by trade — more of a curious tinkerer who hates limitations and loves making smart things even smarter.
Started literally from “what’s an API?” to now triggering multi-room scenes via webhooks and making custom automations that even my techie friend was impressed by. Yeah. That’s how far it’s come.
Biggest hurdle at first was just figuring out where to even begin — docs were a bit heavy, and examples were… well, let’s say not very noob-friendly. But once I got my first simple curl command to trigger my light, it was like magic. Things just clicked after that.
I’ve now got shortcuts hooked into Siri that trigger Aqara automations with logic layered behind them. Like — door opens after 10pm + no motion in hallway = lights on dim, soft playlist starts. It’s nuts.
Anyone else here digging into the developer side of things? Would love to swap ideas, scripts, or hacks you’re proud of. And if you’re just starting out — happy to share what helped me push through that initial “what the heck is this?” phase.
Let’s make smart homes even smarter — our way.
Cheers!
