My Aqara G100 camera connected to HomeKit is not recording, even though both “Stream & Allow Recording” and “Any Motion is Detected” settings are enabled (“when home” and “when away” mode are both selected). The camera is placed on the terrace on the 3rd floor, angled downward toward the house entrance. Could it be that the height prevents it from detecting motion? Is motion detection decided by the camera itself, or by the Home hub that processes the video?
I have an Apple TV 4K and several HomePods at home, with hub selection set to automatic. My other Aqara G2H Pro cameras inside the house record without any issues. In total there are 5 cameras. By the way I’ve already tried to reset/update and delete/re-add the camera but no luck.
The height shouldn’t affect it that way! You have motion detections in the Aqara app?
Yes I have.
I’ve tried to add the camera only to HomeKit and then first Aqara app, then HomeKit through Aqara app but it didn’t make any difference.
And on HomeKit you have the 200GB plan or bigger?
Did you checked in the settings of your Apple TV how many cameras are bound? Maybe not deleted any old cam?
I have 200 GB plan and 5 cameras so it shouldn’t be a problem. On Apple TV and all my other Apple devices all my cameras show up and work without any issues.
I forgot to mention, G100 recorded a motion triggered video on HomeKit just once! It was night time and it recorded a passing by car with headlights on. Maybe it’s about bright light/contrast difference, somehow recording was triggered .
Right now I discovered something interesting. While Home app does not show any recordings but Aqara app records all events, even the canopy waving in the wind.
My G100 is shocking .
When I watch live view, the feed keeps freezing and jumping.
I have the G5, G3 and g2h Pro and I don’t have this issue with any of the others.
I was asked to wait until a firmware update was released (it now has) but still getting the same issue.
I’ve now asked how to send the camera back !
I’ve been experiencing different settings for a while and it appears it’s working now! I just switched the home hub selection from automatic to manual and picked Apple TV (it used to be one of the HomePods).
It’s morning right now and the camera records passing cars, people etc.
Mine streams perfect. Maybe it’s about your local network? I’m using TP-link S7 mesh system (2 units over ethernet backhaul) and it works really good, I don’t have any complaints. Range, speed, packet drop, delay etc.
Is that using Aqara app or Apple home app.
For me Aqara is perfect but the issues start when I look via Apple home
I only use Apple Home app but it streams perfect on both apps. You can try to change the wifi channel, maybe there is a congestion in the radio frequency especially if you live in a crowded place.
I’ve now sent the g100 back and replaced it with the g2h Pro and it works perfectly so defo a camera issue
