Running version:4.5.45_0004 there are major live view performance issues on all of my G100 cameras via the home app. Image quality is extremely poor and laggy (more so when connecting outside of the network).
No issues when in Aqara app but I’ve found that if you remove the camera from the Aqara app and only run in Apple home performance is better so is this a firmware issue or just under powered hardware that can’t handle multiple eco systems?
Network conditions are excellent using high powered WiFi 6 router and cameras reporting perfect signal strength.
Interesting? Do you only notice this on the G100 or do you have other Aqara cameras that are also effected.
I ask because earlier in the week I showed an update for my G5 Pro cameras. I updated those camera and now those same cameras can’t keep a Live Video feed alive. The cameras cut out and show a blank-black Live feed. They blink every few second and occasionally show the Live feed for a few moments but then go blank-black again.
It only effected my G5 Pro cameras. All my other Aqara cameras work just fine. I don’t have any G100’s at the moment.
When I try to use a different App to view the Live feeds the issues are not present and seem to work fine.
I wish I had not updated my G5 Pro cameras firmware a few day ago.
It’s just the g100’s I’ve got g5pro, g2hpro, g410 and they seem to be able to cope.
It’s odd that just running in Apple home only makes a difference which leads me to think it’s a hardware issue as the camera is a budget one. It’s also only one of the few cameras that the resolution is also capped in the Aqara app
Hello @Heyhey88
If you use multiple systems, the resolution will automatically drop to 1080. This is stated by the manufacturer on the official website. Try turning off unused AI detection features, and the camera will work more stably.
This doesn’t work. All AI / cloud upload is off so the system isn’t doing anything in the Aqara app apart from being available for a live stream.
Also aware that that the resolution is capped but this isn’t the norm. Most Aqara cams allow for full native resolution in their app whilst being capped at 1080p in HomeKit (which is the Apple limitation). They say it’s due to encoding limitations of the hardware which backs up my point the camera is underpowered and can’t run in both ecosystems properly.
I bought four of these for around the outside of the house. I just set the first one up yesterday and I am experiencing the same issues. Picture quality through Apple Home was poor and there was lag…then I updated the firmware on the camera and now it freezes after around five seconds and the stream cannot rebuild. If I start a new stream, it’s fine for a few seconds. Stream seems completely stable in the Aqara app, albeit capped at 1080p resolution.
For what it’s worth, I think that the HomeKit issue may be the same as with the previous firmware, just worse. Prevoiusly, the steam quality would progressively degrade, starting after a few seconds; now it collapses and breaks the stream completely. Hopefully there can be a fix as it seems a brilliant product otherwise, given the cost.
Update: I have removed the camera from the Aqara app and the stream now appears to be completely stable in HomeKit. Obviously, this is a bit of a nuisance insofar as I can’t deal with settings in the app, etc. I would need to add it to the app again to change any of these and then remove it again. Hopefully, there is full fix, but as I now have it working in HomeKit I will likely just bash on with the other three to get the whole outside covered. I’m already using a G410, so had hoped everything would just work through the same system, but these are so cheap (i.e. four for much less than the cost of one G5), that the inconvenience is probably worth it.
I’m seeing this after about 20-40 seconds video jams yet there is still sound, then goes offline. This has only started since last firmware update as it was perfectly fine before [quote=“Heyhey88, post:1, topic:298810, full:true”]

Basically consistent with what I experienced after the firmware update. It might be as little as 6-7 seconds, but I might get up to 20 seconds of video. Then I would keep getting live sound with a frozen picture until the feed crashed completely.
Additional issue found today. I had to switch the camera off. when I switched it back on, the settings were messed up and the date and time stamp wasn’t showing on the feed. to reinstate this, I had to re-pair it with the Aqara app, which immediately remembered the camera and re-instated the previous settings. Unfortunately, the only way to do this meant removing and re-adding the camera to Apple Home. This has had the effect of detaching it from previous recordings in Apple Home. Please just fix the firmware, guys!
