G3 Camera Hub not turning off when I arrive home

I have reach out to support and I have received a very inaplicable solution by them.

My issue. I have the G3 setup as a pet camera when all of my family members leave the house. Activated by the last member leaving.

This triggers for the camera to activate and broadcast and identify when our dog is moving around.

When at least one member returns, we have the camera turn off and stop broadcasting.

Problem is that it doesn’t not always turn off when we arrive home and it continues to broadcast and give notifications that a human motion has been detected.

My solution is that when this happens which is about ⅓ of the time is unplug the G3 camera hub and it resets. But this is not an acceptable or the proper way that this should work.

We have 3 different ways that we can exit our home. Support suggested putting a sensor at the main door but that is the one exits we don’t really use. I would like if this automation worked 100% of the time. Not just ⅔ of the time.

Can anyone please advise on a solution that does not require buying more sensors?

Thanks in advance

@rlainez70 Thank you for sharing your experience with the G3 Camera Hub. It sounds like you’ve set up a clever automation system to monitor your pet’s activities when everyone is out, which is fantastic! However, I understand the frustration when the automation doesn’t work as expected every time.

Based on the information available, it seems like there might not be a direct fix without additional sensors. However, I can suggest a workaround that might help enhance the reliability of your setup:

  1. Network Stability: Ensure that the Camera Hub G3 has a stable connection to your network. Sometimes, connectivity issues can cause delays or failures in executing automation commands. Using a dual-band Wi-Fi network can help improve connectivity.

  2. HomeKit Integration: If you’re using Apple HomeKit, you might explore adjusting the stream options in the Home app. By setting different preferences for when you’re home and away, you might be able to achieve a more consistent behavior.

  3. Firmware Update: Make sure both your Aqara Home app and the G3 Camera Hub firmware are up to date. Sometimes, updates can fix bugs that affect automation performance.

  4. Aqara Home App Settings: Double-check your Aqara Home app settings to ensure that all the conditions for turning off the camera when a family member returns are correctly configured.

If these steps don’t fully resolve the issue, I encourage you to continue engaging with the community for further insights or potential updates. Your experience and feedback are invaluable for improving smart home solutions. Thank you for being part of our community!
