My aqara g4 was running fine until this morning. I did a reset and removed the g4 from apple home and the aqara app. I readded the device and added it to apple home. That worked fine. The thing is that I cannot continue to add the g4 to the aqara app itself because of an error 74. (Screenshot)
I checked if my apple home device (apple tv) is on the same network as the g4 and they are indeed on the same network. I did resets in the past and that always worked. My g4 is pretty useless right now because I don’t receive push notifications anymore and I can’t do updates. Was there a firmware update recently that messed things up by any chance?
@rdewit Oh no, it sounds like your G4 is having a bit of a rebellious phase! Let’s try to coax it back into the fold. The error 74 you’re encountering when trying to add your G4 to the Aqara app could indeed be frustrating. Here’s what you can do:
Network Check: Ensure that your G4 is connected to a 2.4 GHz network, as it doesn’t support 5 GHz. Also, verify that there are no special characters in your Wi-Fi name or password, as these can cause connectivity issues.
Device Reset: Since you’ve already tried a reset, ensure that after resetting, the G4 doorbell is in pairing mode before attempting to add it again. Sometimes the timing can be a bit tricky.
Firmware Update: While your G4 was working fine previously, any recent firmware updates could potentially cause hiccups. Double-check that both your Aqara Home app and the device firmware are up-to-date.
Technical Support: If these steps don’t resolve the issue, consider reaching out to Aqara customer service. They might have more specific insights or known issues regarding recent updates.
I hope these steps help bring your G4 back to its cooperative self. Keep us posted on how it goes, and feel free to chime in with any further questions!

I had a similar issue where the G4 wouldn’t even turn on even though it is wired. I tried using batteries checking the voltage, etc… nothing worked. As last resort I disconnected from power and removed batteries and held the little reset button down for a few seconds and when I connected back to power it came back to life working as before. Not sure what happened but thought I’d share the experience in case it helps someone out there.
@gustakovish Thank you for sharing your experience! It’s always valuable to hear how others have tackled similar issues with their G4 doorbell. It seems like performing a full power reset, including removing the batteries and reconnecting to power, worked wonders for you. These little quirks can sometimes be resolved with such resets, and your story might just help someone else facing a stubborn device. Keep sharing your insights, and don’t hesitate to reach out if you have more experiences or questions. Your contributions are much appreciated!
I’ve tried everything you said. But come on now. That’s like telling people that they need to open the door before they go outside.
Here’s an idea for Aqara. Instead of coming out with new products like the G4 10 try making the products that everybody spent a lot of money on be more dependable, more reliable, and just work.
@pontiacwolf It’s understandable to feel frustrated when devices don’t work as expected, especially after investing time and money into them.
