G400 Stops Recording Motion Events in Apple Home After 24–48 Hours

Hi everyone,

I’m hoping someone has seen this before because I’m running out of ideas.

My Aqara G400 wired doorbell works perfectly for about 24–48 hours after I reset it. During that time, motion detection and HomeKit Secure Video recordings work exactly as expected.

After a day or two, however, it suddenly stops detecting motion in the Apple Home app. Someone can walk directly up to the front door, ring the bell, or walk inside, and Home won’t detect motion or record any events.

What’s strange is that the Aqara app still detects motion most of the time, although I’ve noticed it has missed a few events here and there as well. This makes me wonder whether it’s a HomeKit issue, a G400 firmware issue, or some interaction between the two.

Here’s what I’ve checked so far:

  • Apple TV 4K is my active Home Hub.
  • The Apple TV stays online and has never gone offline.
  • I’ve verified my HomeKit recording settings.
  • I’ve reset the G400 multiple times.
  • After every reset, everything works perfectly again for 24–48 hours before the issue returns.

It almost feels like something gradually stops working until motion detection in HomeKit completely dies. The only way I’ve found to restore it is to reset the doorbell, but then the same thing happens again a day or two later.

Has anyone else experienced this? Is there a known firmware issue with the G400, or are there any settings that could cause HomeKit Secure Video to stop receiving motion events after a couple of days?

I’d appreciate any suggestions or troubleshooting ideas. Thanks!

Hi there, it looks like you’re experiencing a support-related issue. We’ve automatically created a support ticket for you and will reach out via the forum email within the next two business days.

If other members have any suggestions or insights on this topic, feel free to share!

Can you share your iOS and TVOS versions for us?
Is it on WiFi or POE?
When this happens does the G400 still show as connected (but without recording) or does it go No Response?
Any other cameras or devices that give you issue?

I haven’t experience exactly this, but I can tell you that sometimes the Apple TV needs to be restarted. Even though it’s online and everything seems fine it can kind of get stuck. For me I’ve wondered if it was device memory or something else causing it to get funky. Not saying it’s ideal, but saying sometimes a true restart of the apple tv helps things.

But if you share some more detail that might narrow down other possibilities.

I’m on IOS 26.5.2 and the TVOS is 26.5. The doorbell stays connected I can live view it and talk through it also, it just doesn’t record any motion or even send me notifications anymore. I also have a few homepods that can act as hubs but my Home App has the Apple TV as the main active hub.

The Home hub is responsible for both notifications and recording, so give the apple tv a restart and see if that helps.

Restarted multiple times still no change.

I’ve been experiencing the exact same thing with HKSV and only the G400. No issue with my other Aqara cameras and HKSV. It’s capturing everything in the Aqara app, but the breakdown is in Apple Home. Feels like something to do with the HomeKit bridge. Maybe iOS27 will fix it?

I am having exactly the same problem with my G400. No issues with my G410.
