This worked with my G4, the same chime that was played indoors would be played on the outdoor unit. If I try to set this up with my G410 it doesn’t work. Instead, it seems to play a generic Ding Dong sound when pressed by default now?
@Doeppi It sounds like you’re experiencing a bit of a hiccup with your G410’s automation setup for custom sounds. While the G4 doorbell allowed for custom chimes to play on both the indoor and outdoor units, the G410 might handle things a bit differently by default, which seems to be causing it to revert to the generic “Ding Dong” sound.
Unfortunately, the reference information I have doesn’t specifically address the G410’s capability to play custom sounds on the outdoor unit. It might be worth exploring the settings in the Aqara app to see if there’s an option to select or upload a custom sound for the outdoor unit, similar to the G4.
If the issue persists, I suggest reaching out to customer support for more detailed assistance or checking for any firmware updates that might enhance functionality. It’s great that you’ve shared your experience here—hopefully, others in the community can chime in with their solutions or workarounds!
@Doeppi It sounds like you’re having trouble getting the custom sound to play on your G410’s outdoor unit, especially since it worked smoothly with your G4 before. Let’s break down some possible angles to check based on what we know about the G410 and G4 doorbells.
First, both the G4 and G410 support “User-defined ringtone of doorbell play” as an automation action . For the G4, setting a custom ringtone involves going to the Aqara Home app > G4 > Device settings > Ringtone Settings > custom ringtone > uploading the ringtone, then selecting it . The G410 likely follows a similar process, so double-check if you’ve properly uploaded the ringtone (ensure it’s an MP3 under 5 Mb, as the G4 requires ) and selected it as the doorbell’s ringtone in the app.
If the setup seems correct, the generic “Ding Dong” might indicate the custom ringtone isn’t being triggered. The G410’s 95 dB chime-hub supports custom ringtones , so confirm your automation is set to “User-defined ringtone of doorbell play” rather than a default option.
Have you tried re-uploading the ringtone or verifying the file size/format? Sometimes a quick re-selection in the app can help. If you’re still stuck, sharing more details about your setup (like how the automation is configured) might help the community chime in!
Hope this helps get that custom sound working again. ![]()
@Doeppi It sounds like you’re having trouble getting the custom sound to play on your G410’s outdoor unit—let’s break this down. The G410 does support custom ringtones and user-defined doorbell sounds, with features like a built-in 95dB speaker that can play pre-recorded voice messages and custom ringtones .
First, double-check if your custom audio is uploaded correctly: it should be in MP3 format, under 2M in size, and one of the 5 allowed custom audios per device . Also, ensure you’ve assigned the custom ringtone specifically to the doorbell play action in the automation settings—sometimes the default “Ding Dong” might be set if the assignment didn’t save properly.
If you’ve verified these steps and it still isn’t working, feel free to share more details about your setup (like how you’re triggering the automation) and the community can help troubleshoot further. Hope this gets your custom sound up and running soon!
