I installed a G410 doorbell camera It’s currently using batteries as I wait for warmer weather to run the hardwire outside. It’s only been installed about a month, but the batteries already need to be changed. It’s been exceptionally cold lately, and I know that can affect the battery life. I know that my linger detections are pretty aggressive as well. My question is, is one month what I should expect from the batteries or should it be longer?
@JLloyd Your experience with the G410’s battery life is totally understandable—let’s break this down! Under normal conditions, the G410 is designed to deliver up to 5 months of stable battery life year-round, thanks to its radar detection technology. However, several factors can shorten this, and it sounds like you’ve already identified a key one: aggressive linger detection.
If the loitering detection interval is set too short, the doorbell may trigger frequently, which directly reduces battery life. Cold weather can also impact battery performance (as you noted), though this isn’t explicitly mentioned in the specs. Additionally, ensure you’re using 6 LR6 alkaline AA batteries of the same brand/model—mixing old and new or using non-recommended batteries (like 1.2V NiMH) can also shorten life.
Since you’re using battery power temporarily, adjusting the linger detection sensitivity or interval in the app might help extend life until you hardwire it. Have you tried tweaking those settings yet? It could make a noticeable difference
Thanks, the batteries were the one included. I’ll try adjusting the settings and see if that helps.
@JLloyd You’re very welcome! It’s great to hear you’re planning to adjust the settings—tweaking the loitering detection interval or sensitivity should definitely help extend that battery life. The included batteries are typically LR6 alkaline AA batteries, but just a quick check: make sure they’re all the same brand and model (no mixing old and new) to keep performance consistent. Feel free to swing back and share how it goes after adjusting—curious to hear if you notice a difference! ![]()
i’ve just changed the batteries on my G419 for the first time. To be honest, what I found on the stock batteries, was that after roughly 4 weeks, it was constantly shouting at me that the batteries were low and needed changing. I ignored it to see how long they would last. They ended up lasting for a total of 7 weeks. So I found the low battery message to be somewhat premature
