I’ve seen this covered a few times across the internet with no hard fixes so I come here to see if anyone else has overcome this issue.
Since I bought this device the feed starts smooth but over the coming hours the feed starts to lag horrendously until the resulting recording or live stream is not worth using and then will suddenly become lag free for a short period before going through the same process. It’s the only Aqara device that does this, none of my G100 cameras lag at all.
My testing so far compromises:
I have hard wired my doorbell to a sufficient power supply,
I have separated my WiFi to 2.4 and 5 bandwidth and tested on both.
I have disconnected all over devices on the 2.4 bandwidth.
I have moved the chime to every possible location in the hallway including directly the back of the doorbell 1 inch away until it no longer sticks to any surface. All lags eventually.
Made sure ports are open.
All this and the device eventually lags. Again it’s the only device that does it. The G3 even has a smooth feed when the G410 doesn’t. I am at my wits end with it now.
Has anyone else anymore suggestions before I give up on the device?
Hi @Bootneck
I had a similar situation with G410 and G5, resetting to factory settings and re-adding to the application helped me. The problem was solved, now it works without lags.
I have tried the suggestions and gave it a good chance over the past month and unfortunately the problem still exists but only with the Dorca’s. All other cams 3x G100 1x G3 and 1x G5 Pro do not have this issue.
I have exhausted all available options now and the only thing that works is restarting the device once or twice a day. Please can your bug team put in an automatic daily restart at a selected time like 2am or look to fix the bug. Thankyou
what signal does the aqara app show for the g410? what wifi are you connecting too? If you have hard wired could you test the rtsp feed and see if that lags too?
1st few days video was flawless… but today i got the same issues with you… same video like urs laggy or choppy . I did restart the g410 and the problem gone but back again few mins to few hours. Restart g410 and chime same issues…
So i just move my chime to another area slightly closer to the g410. For now it work normally…
Almost 1 day working fine… now back to choppy or laggy video… restart the chime and back to normal… i was hopping this will be much better then my ring video door bell 2…
If it keep restart probably just add in a smart plug or aqara relay to turn on and off the power…
At First i connected it to my google mesh 1st gen and it was auto connected to 5ghz. There is no way to change to 2.4ghz. So i re connect to another network (ISP Router) that has 2.4ghz.
After few hours same problem…now trying another wifi channel see will it last…
distance from the chime to doorbell is about 6m, before that was ard 7m-8m away. In between g410 and chime is glass window and metal gate (metal gate with plastic wood with gap.
At all time signal is strong or good. DC12V 2A connected to G410 with battery as backup. So much easier then ring, with ring only AC24V then u will get the LED halo ring light up.
If still problem, will try to change the metal rain cover to plastic. I also use the silicon waterproof case. But i still feel is not that metal cover, if i restart chime everything back to normal. Connection is ard 300-400kbps for 2.4ghz and 200-300kbps for 5ghz, usually if i see connection above 100-150kbps i know the video will be smooth and good.
Worst case scenario add in a smart plug and do auto restart every few hours… which i find it quite funny if i really need to do that… i brought this doorbell and was hoping that it can do a much better then ring.
Somehow no event were captured for few hours, usually will have some events where my kids go to school or helper throw rubbish… but today zero.
The lag happened today is where a delivery guy walk toward the doorbell where the video is smooth and once he pressed the bell the whole video become choppy or laggy.
Another problem today is that u Try to connect the camera to check but keep getting below error msg
Try moving the camera chime closer to the doorbell. I have two g410s. Both show good signal but the chimes are very close to the doorbell maybe 1-2 tops
When it lags have you tried pulling out the sd card to see if the recordings have the same lag? This would prove it’s an issue with you wifi connection.
I think i found the problem… the lag happen when someone press the doorbell…so i think it might be automation i set where if someone press then doorbell it will show it on the S1 plus panel.
So i turn off to try it out… and when i pressed the door bell the video still smooth and good…
Will monitor for a day and report back here tmr…
Probably too many stream causes the lag but even that is true the video should be back to smooth when all live stream is cut off…
The automation for s1plus to sound the bell and live stream does not caused the laggy or choppy video.
The real cause is Alexa. So when someone press the doorbell it will automatically display live video on echo show. Once its connected the video start to be choppy or laggy. So i off the alexa notification for the doorbell and live video on hp and s1plus look smooth and good.
Will monitor and update tmr…
Before that with ring i don’t have this issues… is a plus to have echo show to display the live video. But that is the reason that caused it will have no choice to leave it off.
