I’ve installed the G410 Doorbell Camera/Hub in my Apple Homekit environment, and everything appears to be working correctly. However, on both the hub and doorbell, the red LED’s are constantly on.
What does this mean? Is there something misconfigured?
My situation is slightly different. If we talk about the Chime/Hub first. The LED on the Hub is always red, this only happens if I have set the camera to Stream & Allow Recording to either or both the home and/or the away setting. If you set both home & away settings to stream the LED on the Hub turns constantly blue.
If we focus on the doorbell unit now. I should point out I’m using it on battery power so not sure if this will change when using the wired setup. The LED on the doorbell is off generally and only turns white when the presence sensor detection kicks in. It then turns blue for a second while the connection is made to the Chime/Hub, it then turns red when it’s recording. Once this is complete the LED turns off again. If I view the stream on Apple Home or anywhere for that matter the LED on the doorbell unit is RED while viewing and then turns off again.
I believe this is the correct behaviour, it also worth noting that if you view the 10s snapshots in Apple Home on any device, iPhone, Mac, Apple TV the LED on the doorbell unit will flash blue for a split second every time a new snapshot its retrieved from the doorbell camera. The Hub needs to make a brief connection to get the latest snapshot. No doubt this will impact battery performance with all the connection attempts.
Was thinking… do you have it set to constantly record to an SD card in the Hub? this would mean the red light would be constantly on. I believe this is only available if the doorbell is wired.
