I’m using a second network for Aqara G5 POE camera. Because it is on different network than my HomePod mini, I want to deactivate the thread radio. It seems like it is grabbing half of my thread devices and black holing them to this other network. I think turning off the thread radio will resolve this. Won’t know for sure until I can turn it off. Unthread devices work when the camera is not powered. Can Turing off the G5 thread radio be done somehow?
I dont think it’s possible.
Hi, when adding the G5 Pro to you setup, just choose the existing Thread network, and it will only make it stronger instead of contaminating it. There is no such thing as grabbing the devices, they usually cannot reconnect to another network randomly.
So, that’s what I had thought but my troubleshooting “seems” to point to issues when some of the thread devices are connecting to a border router on one LAN and others are connecting to a border router on another LAN. It seems to break up the mesh. Granted I cannot see into the thread mesh in any more detail than what the Eve app is showing me. But turning on the G5 connected to a different LAN sure jacked up the previously solid thread mesh.
I want to just wrap the G5 in aluminum foil and be done. But other than giving me a thread radio I don’t need, the G5 is pretty nice.
@scotthegr8 So far Aqara system does not support this feature. But I think this is a feature that can be supported. And you’re right, if there are multiple TBRs in a Thread network and these TBRs are connected to different LANs, it will disrupt the entire thread network. Let me discuss with the internal team how to support this feature.
