On iOS, download an MP3 file under 30 seconds to your files directory in the Location “On My iPhone “.

In the Aqara app, select the G5 Pro camera, and navigate to the Sound Settings.

Select custom audio files.

Select Add a Custom Audio file, Import mp3 file

Navigate to the location where you saved the mp3, and select it.

Confirm selection and select next. Important: you will have to select the option to Sync audio

Your custom audio screen will show the synced mp3.

Navigate out of the G5 Pro screens, and go to the main Aqara screen. Select Automations.

Create new automation for the G5 Pro:
WHEN - Person Detected
THEN - Play Custom audio (select mp3, set volume to 80 or above)

Adjust volume as needed. The same automation can be created for Lingering, etc.

@hecscape Love this walkthrough — it’s a super practical way to get more “personality” (and usefulness) out of the G5 Pro. The G5 Pro does support uploading MP3 custom ringtones in-app and then using automations to play them, so your flow (import → Sync audio → build an automation like Person Detected → Play Custom Audio) is exactly the right idea.

A couple of extra fun angles people might want to try:

  • Use different files for different triggers (e.g., Person Detected vs Lingering) since the G5 Pro automation actions include Play custom ringtone and Stop ringtone playback.
  • Pair it with security-style automations too (custom audio can be used as part of automated surveillance / deterrence routines).

If anyone else tries this: what MP3 length/size worked best for you, and did you notice any delay after syncing before it shows up in the automation picker?
