G5 Pro Question: Using a PoE adapter with the Wi-Fi version?

Hello everyone,

First off, I apologize if this is a very basic question or shows my ignorance on the subject.

I’m very interested in the G5 Pro camera, but I have a question about its power options. For the location where I need to install it, it would be much simpler and cleaner to run a single network cable (Ethernet) to provide power via a PoE injector, instead of having to install a power outlet nearby.

My question is: Is it possible to connect a PoE adapter or “splitter” to the Wi-Fi version of the G5 Pro to power it and have it work correctly? Or is the ability to receive power through the network cable an exclusive feature of the camera’s dedicated PoE model?

I would appreciate any clarification or experiences you could share.

Thank you so much!

Hello @pirulo_home
The Wi-Fi camera is powered via a USB-C cable. It only has Wi-Fi internet; you can’t connect it to a wired internet connection.

If the PoE version suits you better, choose it. You can connect it to power via USB-C and internet via an Ethernet cable, or you can connect both power and internet via a single PoE cable.
