Garage Door Opener Scene Setup Tips

Hello everyone! I hope you’re all doing well today. I wanted to share a quick tip that might help those of you looking to set up a scene for your garage door opener. I recently went through this process myself and thought I’d jot down my experience in case it helps someone else.

So, the goal was to create a scene where the garage door opener activates between 7 PM and 5 AM, and when it does, the lights turn on. At first glance, it seemed straightforward, but I ran into a bit of a snag with the time settings on the Vera app.

After a bit of trial and error, here’s what worked for me:

  1. Identify the Devices: First, make sure your garage door opener and the corresponding light switch are both properly integrated into your smart home system.
  2. Create the Scene: Navigate to the scenes section in your Vera app. Create a new scene and name it something like “Garage Door Night Mode”.
  3. Set Conditions: Under the conditions tab, select the time range. I set it from 7 PM to 5 AM.
  4. Add Actions: In the actions section, add two commands: one to open the garage door and another to turn on the lights.
  5. Test the Scene: Before finalizing, test the scene manually to ensure everything works as expected.

If you’re having trouble with the time settings, like I did, double-check that the time range is correctly formatted. Sometimes, it’s easy to mix up the start and end times.

I’d love to hear if anyone else has tips or tricks for setting up similar scenes. Happy automating! :fire_engine::sparkles:
