GE 4-Way Switch Troubleshooting & Solution

After spending hours trying to figure out why my GE 12723 slave switch wasn’t working in the middle of my 4-way circuit, I finally found the solution! It turns out I was wiring the switch incorrectly. Here’s what I learned:

  1. Identify the wires: In the middle of the circuit, you’ll have two pairs of wires. One pair carries 120 volts, and the other doesn’t. The 12723 only needs the neutral wire and one of the live wires.

  2. Wiring the switch: Attach the neutral wire to the white jumper. Then, connect one of the live wires to the remaining screw. It doesn’t matter which live wire you choose since they’re interchangeable.

  3. Capping unused wires: Cap the remaining wires individually to avoid any accidental shorts.

This setup worked perfectly for me! Hopefully, this helps someone else who’s struggling with the same issue.
