Hey everyone, I wanted to share my experience with setting up the GE 28177 dual outlet with SmartThings. At first, I was a bit puzzled because only one outlet showed up in the app, even though I knew both should be controllable independently. I tried switching the device handler to “Z-wave device multichannel,” but it didn’t solve the issue right away. ![]()
After some research and tinkering, I realized the problem might be with the firmware or device configuration. I decided to dive deeper into the settings and discovered that manually configuring each outlet under the device settings made all the difference! Now, both outlets work perfectly, and I can control them separately through the SmartThings app. ![]()
This experience taught me the importance of checking firmware updates and device configurations when setting up new smart devices. If anyone else is having trouble with their GE dual outlet, I’d recommend:
- Double-checking the device handler settings
- Ensuring both outlets are properly configured in the app
- Testing each outlet individually to confirm functionality
It’s been a great addition to my smart home setup, and I’m excited to see how else I can integrate it into my routines. If anyone has tips or tricks for optimizing Z-wave devices, I’d love to hear them! ![]()
