I recently installed the GE Z-Wave In-Wall Smart Motion Switch in my home, and I must say, the setup process was surprisingly smooth! These switches have completely transformed how I interact with my lighting system. The motion sensor detects movement seamlessly, and the dimmer feature allows for perfect lighting adjustments. One thing that caught my attention was the creation of three devices when adding the switch to Vera: the motion sensor, the switch/dimmer, and a Generic IO device. While I initially found this a bit confusing, I discovered that hiding the Generic IO device didn’t affect functionality. However, I’d love to know more about its purpose and whether it unlocks any additional capabilities. For anyone looking to integrate multiple smart devices, I recommend starting with a solid Z-Wave network and ensuring all devices are properly configured. The GE Z-Wave switches have been a reliable addition to my setup, and I’m excited to explore more possibilities with them. If you’ve had similar experiences or tips, I’d love to hear about them in the comments below!
