GE ZW5303 Remote Compatibility with Hubitat

I recently came across the GE ZW5303 remote control and thought it would be a great addition to my Hubitat setup. After some research, I found that others have successfully integrated this remote with Hubitat, but I wanted to share my experience and see if anyone else has encountered similar issues or has tips to improve functionality.

First, I paired the remote using the standard Z-Wave inclusion process. The remote was detected without any problems, and I was able to assign it to specific devices in my setup. However, I noticed that some of the buttons didn’t trigger the expected actions initially. After some trial and error, I realized that the remote sends scene IDs rather than direct commands, which means I needed to configure scenes in my Hubitat setup to map these IDs to the desired actions.

To make this work seamlessly, I created a few scenes in Hubitat that correspond to the buttons on the remote. For example, one button now triggers a scene that turns on multiple lights in my living room, while another button activates a scene that lowers the blinds and dims the lights for movie night. This setup has made my daily routines much more convenient.

I’d love to hear from others who have used the GE ZW5303 remote with Hubitat. Have you encountered any unique challenges or found innovative ways to utilize this remote? Any tips or tricks would be greatly appreciated!

Overall, I’m really happy with how this remote has enhanced my smart home setup. It’s a reliable and versatile addition, and I’m excited to explore more possibilities with it.
