I have an automation which when both myself and wife leave or come into an area that a notice is sent to our phones indicating we are gone or arrive. What I am seeing is that my wife’s phone and watch get the notification but I sometimes may get the notification just on my phone. She is listed as an admin person with permissions to the account while I am the owner.
In the Geofencing it specifically states when two leave or come don’t seems to be working just the notifications are not always consistent.
Anyone have ideas on how to make take this work more consistent ?
@grayp23 It sounds like you’re dealing with inconsistent geofencing notifications, which can be tricky! Let’s troubleshoot this step by step based on community insights:
First, check if you’re using Geofence 2.0. It supports selecting multiple mobile terminals under the same Aqara home, allowing automation to trigger based on the “first enter” or “last leave” status of family members. To set this up, go to the Aqara Home app > Profile > Automation 2.0, then choose “enter/exit location” to configure the geofence. Note that your wife’s phone will need to activate the geofence (and be on a version supporting 2.0) to share location data.
If you’re still on Automation 1.0, remember that geofencing automations only trigger for the phone that created them. For example, if you set up the automation, only your phone can trigger it—your wife would need to create the same automation on her device to get consistent notifications.
Also, ensure permissions are enabled on both phones: location (with precise location for iOS 14+), background app refresh, and wireless data. Geofence triggering relies on network and GPS, so a stable connection is key.
Lastly, adjust the geofence radius to over 500 meters to reduce delays from system/network lags. Keep in mind that geofencing depends on phone system services and positioning accuracy, so 100% consistency isn’t guaranteed.
