Hi everyone, I recently set up ESPresense in my home automation setup, and I must say, it’s been a breath of fresh air! I’ve always been interested in tracking the presence of devices around my house, and ESPresense has made this process incredibly seamless.
Initially, I was a bit nervous about setting it up, but the documentation and community support have been fantastic. I started by placing the base station in a central location, and within minutes, it began detecting my devices. The setup process was straightforward, and I appreciated how intuitive the interface was.
One thing I particularly love is how ESPresense integrates with my existing smart home ecosystem. It’s amazing to see how it works alongside my other devices, enhancing the overall automation experience. I’ve also been impressed by the accuracy of detection. Even devices that are not always in use, like my smartwatch, are detected reliably.
However, I did notice that after a few hours, some devices would show as ‘not_home’ even when they were nearby. This was a bit puzzling at first, but I discovered that ensuring the devices were in ‘discoverable’ mode helped maintain consistent tracking. Toggling this mode manually brought them back into range instantly, which was a helpful workaround.
I’m also excited about the potential for future updates. The community is quite active, and I’m hopeful that ongoing improvements will make ESPresense even more robust. For anyone considering this setup, I’d say give it a try—it’s definitely worth exploring!
Thanks to everyone in the community for the support and resources. It’s great to be part of such an engaged and helpful group! ![]()
