After a lot of research and anticipation, I finally got the chance to install the new Govee Envisual TV Backlight T2 on my 65” Samsung curved-screen TV, and I must say, I’m thoroughly impressed! Having used the H6199 T1 for quite some time, I was already a fan of how it transformed my viewing experience. The introduction of the DreamView option, which allows synchronization with additional lights for a whole-room experience, was a game-changer for me. Now, with the T2, things have gotten even better!
The T2 comes with a much-improved two-camera sensor, and the light strips are now double the density, which makes a significant difference in how smoothly the colors transition across the screen. The camera itself is larger and heavier than the T1’s, and it uses an innovative counter-balance design that allows it to sit securely on top of the TV without needing any adhesives. While I initially preferred the bottom camera setup for its unobtrusive appearance, the T2’s top-mounted camera has proven to be just as effective, if not more so, in responding to screen colors and motion.
One thing I would love to see in future updates is the option to place the camera at the bottom again. It would be interesting to see if that setup could further enhance performance. The physical size difference between the T2 and T1 cameras is quite noticeable, with the T2 being much bulkier, but it’s a trade-off I’m happy to make for the improved functionality.
If you’re interested in seeing my unboxing and setup process, I’ve shared a link to my detailed walkthrough. While I can’t embed images or videos here, I can assure you that the transformation in my living room has been nothing short of magical. The ability to synchronize the backlighting with the on-screen action has taken my home cinema experience to a whole new level.
I’m really looking forward to seeing what Govee has in store for us next. If they continue this pace of innovation, the future of smart TV backlighting is going to be incredibly exciting! If you’re on the fence about upgrading from the T1 or trying out the Envisual series for the first time, I highly recommend giving the T2 a shot. It’s a worthwhile investment for anyone looking to elevate their home entertainment setup.
