Govee Light Strip Power Cycling Issues and Solutions

I’ve been using Govee light strips in my home for several months now, and they’ve been a fantastic addition to my smart home setup. However, I’ve run into an issue that’s been a bit frustrating, especially during the summer months when power flickers are common here in Texas.

The problem is that whenever the power goes out and then comes back on, the Govee lights flash through red, blue, and green before settling on their last color or mode. While this isn’t a huge deal, it’s been a bit of a nuisance, especially in the middle of the night when the sudden burst of color wakes me up. I’ve reached out to Govee support, and they mentioned that adding an option to resume the last power state is something they’re considering.

In the meantime, I’ve found a workaround that helps minimize the disruption. I’ve set up a simple automation in my smart home system that, upon detecting a power cycle, sends a command to the Govee lights to reset to a predefined dimmed state. This has been much more reliable than waiting for the lights to cycle through their startup routine.

I’d love to hear if anyone else has encountered similar issues or has found a more effective solution. It would be amazing if Govee could prioritize this feature, as it would make their already excellent product even more seamless to use. Fingers crossed!
