Govee Lights and Automation Tips

Hello everyone! I’ve been really enjoying my Govee lights, especially the LED strips and the Phantasy Pro. They’ve completely transformed my home with their vibrant colors and smooth transitions. However, I’ve been trying to set up some automated scenes, and I’m running into a bit of a snag. Let me share my experience and see if anyone else has encountered this or has some tips!

So, I’ve been using the Govee app to create custom scenes, and it’s been working beautifully for the most part. I have a setup where my lights change colors based on the time of day—warmer tones in the evening and cooler tones during the day. But here’s where I’m hitting a roadblock: I want to create a scene that automatically turns off the outlets after a certain period of inactivity. Specifically, I have an outlet connected to my washing machine, and I’d love it to power off automatically once the cycle is done. Is this something others have managed to achieve? I’m using the IKEA Inspelning E2206 outlet, and while it has energy monitoring, I’m not sure how to set up this rule. Any advice would be fantastic!

On a lighter note, I stumbled upon a really cool integration idea for my DJ setup. I’ve been using Govee Aura lights and was wondering if they could be synced with my EngineOS console. It would be amazing to have the lights change in sync with the music—total immersion, right? I checked the forums, and it seems like there’s some talk about EngineOS supporting more lighting systems, but I haven’t seen anything specific about Govee yet. Has anyone had success with a similar setup or know of any workarounds?

Another thing I’ve been curious about is the retention module in Zephyr. I’m working on a project where retaining certain memory values is crucial, but I’m running into issues where the module isn’t working as expected. The variable gets cleared on writing, and reading it back results in an error. I’ve tried following the documentation, but I’m clearly missing something. If anyone has experience with this, I’d love to hear how you got it working!

Lastly, I’ve been experimenting with my cameras and their internet dependency. I understand that internet is needed for cloud processing and app authentication, but I’m frustrated that even with event recording turned off, the cameras still require a constant connection. It’s been a bit of a hassle, especially when I want to use them offline. I’d love to hear if others have found a way around this or if there’s a workaround I haven’t considered yet.

Overall, I’m really enjoying the flexibility and creativity that smart home devices offer, and I’m excited to see how these technologies continue to evolve. If anyone has insights or solutions to the issues I’ve mentioned, I’d be grateful for your input!

Cheers,
