After four years of enjoying the soft white glow of my Govee RGBIC LED Strip Lights (H619A), I decided it was time for a change. My wife asked if we could switch to a different color while keeping the same fade-in settings. This sparked a fun little project that I’d like to share with the community!
Initially, I was a bit puzzled. The Govee Home app had undergone numerous updates since 2021, and I wasn’t sure where my automation settings had gone. I knew how to create new automations, but I wanted to modify the existing one to change the color. After some digging, I realized that the old settings might not be easily accessible anymore.
Here’s what I did:
- Identify the Current Automation: I started by reviewing all my existing automations in the Govee app. Luckily, the fade-in routine was still there, just hiding under a different menu.
- Modify the Color Setting: Once I located the automation, changing the color was straightforward. I opted for a calming blue shade to create a relaxing ambiance in the kitchen.
- Test the New Setting: I saved the changes and waited for the next morning. To my delight, the lights faded in perfectly at 7 AM, now in a soft blue hue instead of white.
While I couldn’t find the exact location of the old automation settings, recreating the routine wasn’t too cumbersome. It’s a great reminder of how these devices adapt to our evolving home needs.
If anyone has tips on accessing older automation settings or has encountered similar situations, I’d love to hear about your experiences! Happy experimenting with your Govee devices! ![]()
