So, I have just got myself a g410 doorbell and hub. I have been trying to use the rtsp feed to record on my hikvision nvr but with no success

I use a different NVR myself, but if you have enabled RTSP LAN Preview in the settings, the IP address, URI, user name, and password should be displayed.
According to the Hikvision website, you then need to enter the following URL in the software:
RTSP with Authentication
rtsp://[username]:[password]@[IP address of device]:[RTSP port]/Streaming/channels/[channel number][stream number]
So, for example, I would assume that to achieve 960p with the G410, you would need to enter the following:
rtsp://123:987@192.168.178.100:8554/ch2
Does this work for you? Or do you not receive a video image? Or do you receive a specific error message?

I found the problem there is another page of advanced settings where the rtsp port number also needs to be altered to the 8554.
