Hassio Stability Tips and Tricks

I’ve been using Hassio for over a year now, and while it’s been a fantastic experience, I’ve definitely had my share of bumps along the way. One thing that’s been particularly tricky for me is maintaining consistent uptime, especially after updates or certain integrations are added. I wanted to share some of the strategies I’ve found helpful in keeping my setup stable and reliable.

First off, I’ve learned the importance of regular backups. I set up automatic daily backups using the built-in Hassio feature. This has been a lifesaver on more than one occasion when I’ve had to roll back to a previous state after an update went sideways. Speaking of updates, I’ve also found it helpful to stagger updates rather than doing them all at once. Updating the core, Supervisor, and individual add-ons one at a time has reduced the likelihood of conflicts or instability.

Another thing I’ve noticed is the importance of monitoring disk usage. I set up a custom dashboard card that tracks my disk space in real time. This helps me stay ahead of potential issues like full disks, which can cause unexpected restarts or freezes. I’ve also found the Hassio Watchdog add-on to be incredibly useful. It’s given me peace of mind knowing that if something does go wrong, it will automatically reboot and get me back up and running without manual intervention.

I’d love to hear from others who have found success with similar strategies or have tips of their own to share. What steps have you taken to ensure your Hassio setup stays stable and reliable? I’m always looking for new ideas to improve my setup further!
