Hello all, I’m reaching out for some advice on setting up my heating system with OpenHAB. I have a house divided into four zones, each with a solenoid valve controlling the natural gas boiler. My goal is to manage these valves using OpenHAB, with both scheduling and temperature-based control. I’m not entirely sure how to approach this, so I’m hoping the community can provide some guidance!
I’ve come across two potential solutions:
-
Using Z-Wave Thermostats: I’ve seen some examples online where Z-Wave thermostats are used to control heating systems. These thermostats could potentially send signals to the solenoid valves, but I’m not sure how to integrate them with OpenHAB. I’m concerned about compatibility and whether these thermostats can handle the specific requirements of my system.
-
Wired System: I’d prefer a wired solution to avoid wireless interference, but I’m not sure how to implement this. I need advice on the hardware and software components required to connect the solenoid valves directly to OpenHAB.
I’m also wondering if there are any existing OpenHAB configurations or rules that can help me achieve this setup. Any tips, resources, or personal experiences would be greatly appreciated!
Thank you in advance for your help!
