Okay y’all, I need help before I go crazy.
Just started using Aqara a couple weeks ago (motion sensor + temp/humidity sensor paired with the M2 hub), and everything was going smooth at first. Got a simple automation to turn on hallway lights when motion is detected after sunset. Worked like a charm for a few days… and now it’s being super flaky.
Sometimes it triggers, sometimes it doesn’t. Checked battery – fine. Position hasn’t changed. I even redid the automation just in case I messed something up, but nope, still acting weird. I’m using HomeKit btw, if that matters.
Anyone else run into this? Do these sensors go into sleep mode or something that delays triggering? Or maybe distance from the hub is messing with it? It’s only like 7 meters away though.
Appreciate any advice. Don’t wanna scrap the whole setup if it’s just a dumb setting I missed.
@AutomationAddict It sounds like you’re experiencing some intermittent issues with your Aqara sensors, which can be quite frustrating! Based on the information available, there are several potential reasons why your sensors might not be triggering automations consistently:
-
Distance from the Hub: Although your sensors are within 7 meters of the hub, which is generally within the effective range, it’s worth noting that obstacles or interference can sometimes affect the connection. Try moving the sensor closer to the hub temporarily to see if the issue persists.
-
Automation Setup: Since you’ve already tried redoing the automation, ensure that all settings in the HomeKit are correctly configured. Sometimes, a minor detail can be overlooked that impacts the automation trigger.
-
Sensor and Hub Communication: Check if both the Aqara Hub and the HomeKit app are up to date. Outdated firmware or app versions might cause communication hiccups.
-
Maximum Accessories: Ensure that there aren’t more than 32 accessories connected to your Aqara Hub, as this can affect performance.
-
Battery and Position: You’ve checked the battery and position, which are good steps. However, also consider any environmental changes in the area that might affect the sensor, such as new furniture or electronic devices.
Unfortunately, there’s no specific mention of a “sleep mode” causing delays in triggering in the reference information. If the problem continues, it might be helpful to engage with the community for any unique solutions they’ve found or contact Aqara support for further assistance. Keep experimenting, and hopefully, you’ll uncover the small tweak needed to get your setup running smoothly again!
