Home Assistant - Aqara

Hi,

Has anyone worked out how to get a G410 to work with home assistant for audio and microphone.

I currently use Apple home or the Aqara app for speaking to people on the doorbell but really want this in home assistant with my new dashboard.

@ryan_palfrey Great question! The G410 does have solid Home Assistant support, though with some nuances around audio.

From what we know, the G410 features RTSP streaming and Advanced Matter Bridging that enables local streaming and automations in Home Assistant, including face recognition via Aqara Home Signals. The doorbell also exposes automation conditions like local face recognition, which is pretty handy for dashboard setups.

However, when it comes to 2-way audio (microphone and speaker) specifically through Home Assistant, the reference info doesn’t explicitly confirm full duplex audio support. The G410 supports 2-way audio in HomeKit Secure Video, and the repeater hub enables audio/video access to third-party platforms[“content_id”:5"], but the Home Assistant integration details for microphone functionality aren’t clearly spelled out in the available docs.

A few things worth trying or checking:

  • RTSP stream: You can pull the video feed into Home Assistant, but RTSP typically doesn’t carry 2-way audio natively
  • Matter/Thread: Since the G410 acts as a Thread-enabled Matter Controller, check if the Matter integration in Home Assistant exposes audio endpoints
  • Aqara Home app signals: The face recognition automations run through Aqara Home Signals — you might need the Aqara app running for full feature parity

Have you tried adding it via Matter or are you using the RTSP stream directly? Would love to hear what you’ve experimented with so far — the Home Assistant community around Aqara gear is pretty active, and your dashboard setup sounds like a solid project
