Home assistant dongles?

Planning to use HomeAssistant. Can I use my Aqara hub and HomePod mini as the thread router and the zigbee. If not any good recommendations for dongles.

Which hub?

Every HomePod mini serves as both a Matter Controller and a Thread Border Router, providing a solid foundation for your smart home. Both the G410 Doorbell Hub you already own and the M3 Hub you are planning to buy are also full-fledged Thread Border Routers and Matter Controllers. This allows you to connect Matter-over-Thread and Matter-over-Wi-Fi devices to these hubs, where they should automatically form a unified, shared Thread mesh network for better reliability.

Additionally, you can pair your Zigbee devices directly with the G410 and M3 hubs. Since these Aqara hubs function as Matter Bridges, you can simply connect them to Home Assistant via the Matter integration, and all your paired Zigbee sub-devices will automatically show up as native Matter entities in HA.

However, if you also plan to run a separate Zigbee dongle with Home Assistant, keep in mind that a single Zigbee device can only be connected to either an Aqara Hub or the dongle at any given time. Furthermore, unlike your Thread setup—where all devices work together to form one single, unified mesh—the Aqara hubs and the Zigbee dongle will create completely separate Zigbee networks and cannot share a combined mesh.
