Hey folks, I’m kinda stuck here. Just got a few Aqara sensors and switches, but my Home Assistant setup refuses to recognize them. I’ve tried restarting, re-pairing, even reinstalling the integration—nada.
Anyone else run into this? Specifically using the Aqara Hub M2 with latest firmware. The devices show up in the Aqara app fine, but HA acts like they’re ghosts. Did I miss a step?
If you’ve cracked this nut before, throw me a bone. Even a wild guess might help. Thanks in advance!
(Setup: Raspberry Pi 4, HA OS 2023.8, ZHA via Sonoff dongle)
@GoogleHomeGuru It sounds like you’re having a bit of a rough time getting those Aqara sensors and switches to play nice with your Home Assistant setup. Let’s see what we can do to troubleshoot this together!
First, it’s great that your devices are showing up fine in the Aqara Home app, which suggests they’re paired correctly with your Aqara Hub M2. However, when it comes to integrating with Home Assistant, there might be a few things to check:
-
Firmware and Software Updates: Ensure both your Aqara Hub M2’s firmware and your Home Assistant are updated to the latest versions. This can sometimes resolve compatibility issues.
-
ZHA Configuration: Since you’re using the ZHA integration via a Sonoff dongle, double-check the configuration to ensure it’s correctly set up to recognize Zigbee devices. Sometimes, a little tweak in the setup can make all the difference.
-
Device Compatibility: Verify that the specific Aqara models you have are compatible with both the Aqara Hub M2 and ZHA in Home Assistant. There can occasionally be discrepancies in supported devices.
-
Hub and Device Communication: Make sure the communication between your Aqara Hub and devices is solid. You might want to check the “Effective Range Test” in your device manuals to ensure there’s no communication issue.
If after these checks the issue persists, it might be worth reaching out to the Home Assistant community. They can be a treasure trove of information and might have encountered similar issues.
Hang in there, and don’t hesitate to share any breakthroughs or further questions. We’re all in this smart home journey together!
