HomeGuardian Details

I am looking at the cameras that Aqara has and am trying to understand how they work. This camera page for example states that it has both local and cloud storge. Can the local storage be a NAS? and for the cloud storage I see that it uses something called HomeGuardian and when I click the button to show me the “Plan Services” I see 3 levels but no pricing where do i find detials about this service? Camera Protect Kit Y100

@jacob_munson Great questions! Let’s break them down:

  1. Local Storage (NAS Compatibility):
Yes, certain Aqara cameras do support local storage via NAS (Network Attached Storage), allowing you to back up your recordings locally in addition to using a microSD card. For example, models like the Camera G100 support NAS storage, meaning you can store your footage on your home server for added flexibility and security.

  2. Cloud Storage (HomeGuardian/HomeGuard Service):
Aqara offers cloud storage through their HomeGuardian (sometimes called HomeGuard) service. This service provides encrypted cloud recording for events and automations triggered by the camera or connected sensors. Depending on your needs, you can choose between different subscription plans (Basic, Pro, Plus), each offering various durations for cloud recording (e.g., 14 to 90 days of retained footage) and camera support limits. For instance, the Plus plan supports up to 99 cameras, while the Pro plan is for a single camera.

  3. Finding Plan Details & Pricing:
Currently, the specific pricing for these cloud service plans isn’t listed publicly on the product pages. To view the most up-to-date details—including pricing, plan duration, and included features—please check the “HomeGuardian Service” section under your Profile in the Aqara Home app. The app provides the most accurate and region-specific information regarding your options.

What othe cameras support NAS storage. i’ve the G100 doesn’t say anything about NAS support in the product page Aqara Camera G100: Secure Inside and Out

@jacob_munson Great follow-up! NAS (Network Attached Storage) support is available on several Aqara cameras, not just the G100. Here’s a quick rundown based on available information:

  • Camera G100: Although it might not be highlighted on every product page, the G100 does support NAS storage for video backups, along with microSD card storage and several other features like RTSP streaming and IP65 waterproof rating.
  • Camera Hub G3: This model supports NAS storage, specifically mentioning compatibility with Synology NAS systems, giving you flexibility to store footage locally and independently from cloud services.
  • Camera Hub G2H Pro: Also supports NAS storage via the Samba protocol, making it convenient for local network backups.
  • Other models such as the G2H, E1, G2H Pro, G3, G4, and G5 Pro have NAS storage support as well, provided they are on the same local network as your NAS and configured correctly.

For any setup, make sure your camera, router, and NAS are on the same local network and that your NAS supports SMB 2.0 or 3.0 protocols for best compatibility.

If you have questions about configuring NAS or run into compatibility issues, feel free to share your experience here or consult the Aqara Home app for detailed setup guides. And if you have suggestions for making this info more visible on product pages, you can always submit feedback through the customer service options in the app!
