Question for those of you using HomeKit: when setting up your M3, did you connect it directly to HomeKit, or did you set the hub up through Matter?
Is there any real benefit to using one over the other, or does it basically work the same either way?

Really just making this to get some forum points but I am curious what you all decided to go with!
So am I, but also genuinely curious. I’ve always wondered the same about adding devices to homekit first or to the native app and then homekit – such as my FP2 sensors.
Generally you are safer to install new devices using the native app.
Make sure the device works fine and you have updated any firmware that may be available. If everything is working fine then look at adding it to Apple Home.
HomeKit is no longer used by Apple. It’s simply referred to as Apple Home now. Apple wanted to simplify things since Matter and Thread have gone main stream.
I guess It depends on the type of device you are installing and whether you will be using Thread. Apple does not use the Zigbee protocol so if it’s a Zigbee device you have no choice but to use the native app with a hub and let the hub push the device over to Apple Home.
I use HomeKit as I don’t have an Airconditioner (Matter) and I’m using the Security System capability (HomeKit).
