Homematic Wiring and Multi-Brand Integration Tips

Hi everyone, I wanted to share my experience with setting up a Homematic wired system in my home. It’s been quite an adventure! First, a bit about my setup: I decided to go with Homematic wired components for safety and reliability, avoiding wireless as much as possible. My house has a star-shaped wiring layout, and I’ve been working on organizing my sub-distributors and distribution cabinets. It’s been a challenge, but also very rewarding.

I started by planning the wiring for my ceiling lights and roller shutters. I initially thought about using multiple HomeMatic 076805 RS485-I/O modules, but then realized the 12Sw7Out modules might be a better fit for my needs. The idea is to use these modules to control both the lights and the shutters through wall switches. However, the wiring has become quite complex, and I’m looking for tips on how others have organized their systems to avoid a messy setup.

One thing I’ve discovered is the importance of proper cable management. I’ve been using WAGO 8-level rail connectors to sort the individual wires, but it’s getting quite expensive and still feels a bit overwhelming. Has anyone found a more efficient or cost-effective way to manage their wiring? I’d love to hear how others have structured their distribution cabinets to keep everything neat and accessible.

Another aspect I’m excited about is integrating multiple brands into my smart home ecosystem. I’ve heard great things about Govee RGBIC strips and Immersion lights, and I’m considering adding some of these to complement my Homematic setup. What are your experiences with mixing different brands? Do you find it seamless, or are there anygotchas I should be aware of?

On a lighter note, I recently stumbled upon some creative DIY projects using smart lights, like the Annoying Series, which are both fun and a bit mischievous. It got me thinking about how I could use my lights to add a bit of personality to my home automation setup. Maybe some custom scenes or effects that change based on time or activity? The possibilities are endless!

I’m also curious about others’ experiences with scheduling and automation. I’m using a 4-week schedule for heating, but my FHT80B systems only support a 1-week schedule. I’m exploring ways to integrate a central controller to handle the 4-week rhythm more effectively. Has anyone tackled a similar challenge? I’d love to hear about the hardware and software solutions you’ve used.

Lastly, I’m always on the lookout for tips to enhance my smart home experience. Whether it’s optimizing energy usage, improving automation reliability, or just finding that perfect lighting scene, there’s always something new to discover. I’m especially interested in hearing about any hidden features or lesser-known tricks that can take my setup to the next level.

Thanks for reading, and I look forward to hearing your thoughts and experiences! Let’s keep the smart home journey exciting and innovative together! :rocket::bulb:
